I installed PUBG recently on my brand new PC using the copy paste method(without compressing it with steam backup) and in the middle of my first game I got this error. Makes sense, maybe some files got corrupted along the transfering process.. I bit the bullet and I freshly redownloaded the game on my system, yet I still get the issue.
Fast forward to now where I’ve searched over 100 forum posts on google with the same issue, with no solution working for me at all.
Anything I’m missing here? I’m really excited to be finally playing PUBG at 144hz, I want this fixed already and I’m losing hope.

I would like to thank you because the only thing that worked was doing everything in the order you state after number 5. I had done everything in there, but I did it individually with PUBG installed, and I didn’t think it would matter.
So to clarify for everyone having issues, how I fixed it was the following: I uninstalled pubg through steam, THEN I removed all battleeye related things from my computer(all locations stated in Monoxide’s post), restarted computer and then redownloaded PUBG.
Thank you again, I hope this helps people having this issue.
