Uninstalled without reboot and uninstalled with reboot. Still coming up with the same notice.
Tried running 3.0.7 and 3.1.0 (Excavator 1.6.2e). 3080 mobile GPU.
Back to 3.0.6 and it works fine.
PEDemers commented Feb 17, 2021
I deleted NiceHash_3.0.5.6 and NiceHash_QuicMiner 0.3.1.0RC
I redid the installation of NiceHash_3.0.5.6 and NiceHash_QuicMiner 0.3.1.0RC
Do not forget I deactivate the security of windows and exclude the folders where each program is installed

Mobile chips; 0.3.2.2 Could not obtain power consumption #75
Comments
Tyberious commented Feb 21, 2021
I was previous on the 0.3.0.2 version and switched to the 0.3.2.2RC and power consumption no longer reads on mobile series chips such as 1070 and 2070MaxQ. It does still work on desktop variants however.

There is no guarantee that mobile devices will work as they are not officially supported. You may try experimenting with drivers and see if that helps in any way.

Yes I understand that. I am simply reporting that between 0.3.0.2 and 0.3.2.2 power consumption was broken for mobile devices. Driver version was unchanged. So this is indeed a bug created between the two versions.
nicehashdev commented Feb 21, 2021
It is not a bug because as said, mobile devices are not officially supported. If they work, fine, but if they don’t we arent looking into it. Mining with laptops is not a good idea at all and we do not recommend it.
Tyberious commented Feb 21, 2021
Mining with laptops is perfectly safe, in fact 2070 MaxQ based laptops perform better than a desktop 2060 at nearly half the power. Mining on a laptop is no different than playing games 24/7 and in fact is not as hard on them due to no CPU load.
Also, I am not asking you to support anything specific just wondering why it reported power use correctly and now simply doesn’t at all. It still mines as it did and temperature is reported just not power consumption. I would be more than happy to fix it myself but its closed source.
nicehashdev commented Feb 22, 2021
You can try to play around with drivers. Try GeForce compared to DCH drivers. I have noticed that some features are not available on GeForce drivers but are available on DCH drivers. Perhaps that will solve your issue.

Do you get only warning about not being able to get power consumption, but mining works? Or you also have problem with mining itself?
could not obtain power consumption! #267

Alamer1 commented Mar 25, 2021
I was on 4.3.0 RC version and my miner that has 4 3060tis connected via 1x raisers and 2x 3060s connected direct to the motherboard on x16 slots with HDMI dummies, it was stable and worked well for a whole day after the build with no issues.
Today i get a notification for nicehash quick miner 4.3.1 update, right after updating it gave me «could not obtain power consumption!» message for 2 cards, then the miner stopped, I rebooted and after a little bit it crashed into a black screen, I switched back to 4.3.0 which was stable for me for a whole day without issues.
I am using the Nvidia driver 470.05

Adding, downgrading to 0.4.3.0 RC and now my rig is stable with no issues for over 5hrs, will continue to update if something new happens.
nicehashdev commented Mar 25, 2021
Do you have issues with any other cards besides 3060 with latest ver? Also log files would be very helpful.
Alamer1 commented Mar 25, 2021
Hello, log files attached, please note that i am currently on the previous (0.4.3.0) version since it is working well with my miner on driver version 470.05

As discussed in discord, if you have issues after VRAM clock reduction, let me know.

Device could not obtain power consumption #370
NH Quick Miner displays the above and periodically shuts down. The problem seems to be getting more frequent. Have checked risers and connections and don’t think they are the problem.(fans run and MSI AB detects all three cards). Also don’t think its the cards. When one 1660S is remove the setup runs stable.
Two hours later rig fails due same issue above with only one 1660. Therefore, must be a software/setting issue.
Appreciate any and all constructive comments. Thanks, Wingedworrier
Hello, I have the same problem that happens constantly
Also, if everything is fine at start, but it gets messed after a while, then the reason is in driver crash which is caused by unstable OC values. I would suggest dialing down your OC values a bit and see if that helps.
If you use risers, then this is another factor that may be contributing instability to your configuration. Make sure you have set gen2 version for your PCIe lanes in BIOS and try to use best shielded usb cables; also try to replace them. Sometimes that makes a huge stability difference.
Thanks for your response. Pcie Gen 2. I have tried to find that on the motherboard but no success. I have a Gigabyte Z490 UD AC mono. Can you give me a few ideas on where to look in the bios. Tks Richard

Will take a look into this. Please, enable logging in Excavator and QuickMiner (how to do it) and submit your logs. Thanks!

This is the log file as requested.
Just two things I wish to add: the temperature on the GPU is getting too hot very fast, minutes to 84C, and the online NiceHash Rig Manager for the affected worker shows some error messages like in the screenshots here.
Hope you can figure out what’s wrong.
Anyway the new QuickMiner is very good indeed and working well in my other GPU (RTX 2080Ti)

Also forgot to mention. the OCTune is not working at all in this worker! Just don’t retain the setting applied.

I will need Excavator log as well. Please, check instructions how to activate logging for Excavator.
nicehashdev commented Feb 14, 2021
Never mind, I have found the issue; looks like your GPU does not report power consumption for some reason.
Calling following NVML method fails
Can you see power consumption in other tools, like GPU-Z?
nicehashdev commented Feb 14, 2021
Excavator will not report error next time anymore, but you will be without of many features, including ability to perform Autotune. I suggest you look into it, perhaps you can fix it by updating drivers?

Hi Nicehashdev,
how are you? I finally got all my gear and my system up and running. I am starting with one 1080ti i have another 3080 on its way.
I noticed a couple things:
I tried to reinstall the driver from Nvidia Gforce experience. I did a clean install.
One NHQM takes over the fan goes into like turbo mode. a couple times it recognized a power and a small hash rate but it shuts down right after that. now I don’t even get that.
I have tried with MSI after burner on and off. I tried tolower the power to 80 clicked on the check mark. reset. I have not adjusted the bios but I F5 that and reset to make sure.
thats a lot but maybe you can help me isolate the problem.
