itunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing что делать
Question: Q: iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing.
Recently I’ve started receiving this error message when I activate iTunes:
I can reboot my computer and re-activate iTunes without any problems (except all my settings are erased).
I really don’t know what could be causing this, I’m not deleting anything or shutting off any processes.
Thanks for any tips you might have.

I should have mentioned that I’d already re-installed.
Nevertheless I downloaded the installer again and re-installed, the problem still persists.

The worry with that message nowadays, Zahubu, is malware. If program files *really were* missing, iTunes would be much more likely to try to do a «repair install» of itself when you tried to launch it.
Download fresh definitions and run vigorous virus and spyware scans. If your security software provider offers them, supplement those scans with an «Online» virus check. (They can sometimes pick up an infection even when the security software on the PC has been compromised.)
Supplement those scans by downloading and installing the free version of Malwarebytes. Update the Malwarebytes definitions prior to running a scan with Malwarebytes:
Do the scans pick up any infections? If so, what do the scans call the infections? (Precise spelling please.)

I’ve never had a virus/spyware infection on my laptop. I use Microsoft Security Essentials, Comodo Firewall and Process Monitor and occasionally download AVG to supplement.
I haven’t noticed any erratic behaviour on my system either, apart from iTunes.
Thanks for the idea though.

Question: Q: iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing
Hello I’m getting «iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing» error.
I have reinstalled iTunes many times. I downloaded it from both the Microsoft Store app and the Apple website.
What is the solution to this problem?
Windows, Windows 10

The «iTunes for older video card» version on the Apple website works fine. Version number 12.4.3 Perfect!!
When you download, update notification comes, do not update!

For anyone that had this problem upon updating to iTunes 12.12.0, I would advise taking blackwest’s advice and then updating to iTunes 12.11.0. That has fixed the problem for me and has made it so iTunes can read my library. The version 12.4.3 would not read said library. Running Apple Update will show versions 12.11.0 and 12.12.0 with both checked. Uncheck 12.12.0 and you’re good to go.

Just a little bit more on the point, it was not so straightforward for me. Version 12.11 would not install immediately, but the installer recommended selecting «Download Only» from the installer window pulldown menu. This opens an Explorer window with two setup files. Before doing anything else, make sure you uninstall all other instances of iTunes that may still be on your PC. Then double-click on iTunes64.msi. This starts the installation of v12.11, then everything else goes fine.

This worked for me on Windows 10 64-bit. Thanks.
Download iTunes 12.4.3 from the above link Blackwest gave. Then start Apple Software Update. It will show 12.11 and 12.12. I unchecked 12.12 like Anchann suggested. And then after a reboot it works.
Then quickly select «dont download updates automatically».
Very frustrating that this is even possible. A silly (forced?) update and the whole thing just doesn’t work.

Having the same issue,
older version opens but doesn’t let me restore an iPad to factory defaults
Says it needs the latest version witch doesn’t work
Question: Q: itunes cannot run after tonight’s update to 12.12.0.6
iTunes for windows latest version seems to be broken. I suspected a new version might be available due to all the other updates this evening. Updated via Apple software update to latest 12.12.0.6 on all our fully updated windows machines. Now iTunes will not open on any of our machines with ‘iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes’ message. I have tried reinstalling iTunes on all of them by downloading from the Apple links and the same problem exists. This must be a widespread problem? I wonder anyone has the same issue and is able to somehow work around it to get iTunes up and running again. Sadly every single one of our windows machines now has the same problem

I am running Windows 7 and don’t see an update available. It says 12.10.11. is the «current version.» Does that mean itunes no longer supports Windows 7, and if so, will I no longer be able to backup my phone to itunes if I install IOS 15?
Sep 20, 2021 2:28 PM
I have the same exact issue, no idea of how to solve it
Sep 20, 2021 2:25 PM
It’s a shocker from Apple. They’ve knocked out all our machine access to iTunes with this update. Clearly no QA. They need to push a newer version out that fixes this asap. I hope when they do my Apple software update finds it! I tweeted Apple support too. Maybe you can do the same so it helps get this on their radar.

I might have found a solution, give me 20 mins and i’ll tell you if it does solve this **** problem
Sep 20, 2021 2:32 PM
I don’t know for sure but suspect they are dropping support for anything below windows 10. I’d count your blessings that it did not install and find the update as it’s breaking iTunes. We have 3 machines. Foolishly was updating them all at same time and now not a single one of them can open iTunes!

Thank you, keeping fingers crossed

I was able to install an older version of iTunes from Apple website, obviously you need to uninstall everything Apple-related from the control panel (simply open the ‘uninstall a program’ section from your pc and type Apple in the search bar, there should be 5/6 programs). After that open this page https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1816?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US and download the iTunes installer. It might say that a certain file can’t be opened due to it’s creation on a newer version of iTunes, i simply deleted it, it worked for me. Then iTunes should just launch on an older version, it might ask you to update to a newer version, just say NO. There you have it, keep it like this until a further update from Apple. I hope this helps you. 🙂

Thank you. It’s gotten late so I will tackle this tomorrow evening. I hope in the meantime Apple pushes a new update that actually works properly
Sep 20, 2021 3:04 PM
Does that mean itunes no longer supports Windows 7,
Correct. Microsoft no longer supports Windows 7, so Apple are not going to put much effort into a version of iTunes exclusively for windows 7.
As for your question about iOS 15, I haven’t been able to find a definitive answer for you, but it won’t be long before something trips you up. For example, even if your current phone can be used with the version of iTunes that you have, what happens when you replace the phone with a newer model? Perhaps you need to examine the long term implications of all this.

Same issue for me with a fully up-to-date Windows 10. Uninstalling and reinstalling from the Mircosoft Store does not fix it.
Sep 20, 2021 3:43 PM
After uninstalling iTunes, I was able to get it working again by downloading and installing the app from Apple (https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT210384). On starting iTunes, I declined the prompt to update to a newer version of iTunes.
Waiting now for Apple to fix the MS Store version.

Thanks for feeding back. It’s totally hosed up. Luca has kindly offered a workaround but I am sure to be able to sync the new hardware (not that I have any of that) you need the newest version. So Apple needs to pull its finger out. Unfortunately their support on twitter is kind of ignoring the issue and reading off a script. Uninstall everything, reinstall everything. Just generally waste lots of time and then same end result. It’s simple to me, Apple needs to push a new version down the pipe asap

Weird. No problems so far after upgrading from v12.11.4.15 in my four months old, updated 64-bit W10 Pro PC.

With this solution it works also for me. But with itunes 12.11. its not possible to install iOS15 🙁

I have the same problem with last update Windows 10 version and latest 64bit version of iTunes… (oldest iTunes version was ok, i have this problem after iTunes update proposed to day by Apple software update…)

I am having the same problem. When this happens, I have to uninstall iTunes, download the newest version from the site and then re-install it.
Don’t worry about all your music and organisation, that is safely hidden in your music folder in the iTunes folder(PC), so when you uninstall and re-install, all your files will be as you left them.

Pathetic. I am so fed up of Apple updates messing my machine and settings up. Totally inadequate support. This happens FAR TO OFTEN APPLE. What are you playing at?

Same problem here. Just installed the latest version of iTunes (having only installed a new verison a couple of weeks ago), restarted my computer as required only to be told that ‘iTunes cannot run. ‘ Then went to the iTunes website, attempting to reinstall iTunes as requested, only to be told that I already have the latest verison of iTunes. So am now stuck, unable to access to my library or to get into the programme to try and do anything.
Pretty ****** off right now, but at least it sounds like it’s not just me experiencing this problem.

I had the same problem as everyone else here. Followed the above, backed up all files first, although it was not needed. Ran the installer under ‘repair’ and everything is back to normal.

Question: Q: Itunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall itunes.
I installed the latest iTunes update last night. After that I tried to start iTunes and got the following message:
Itunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing.
Please reinstall itunes.
I removed iTunes from my PC (windows10) and reinstalled iTunes. Same result. In the internet I find hundreds with the same issue. It seems to be an issue with apple. Any help?

Has been an iTunes library user for years and have around 4500 songs on file. Suddenly and without warning, the application has disappeared from my system. When I click on the iTunes icon to open the Library, I get a message saying:
«itunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall itunes.»
However, there is no instruction on what to do to put this right. Why can’t the system simply show me which files are missing and supply a button to click on and restore them? I don’t want to risk reinstalling iTunes, as I would probably lose my entire Library in doing so. I am visually disabled and not particularly Computer-friendly and so would welcome suggestions on a quick and easy way to restore my Library, if possible, please? Being partially sighted, my iTunes Library plays a major role in my life and losing it would be a nightmare.

Mike’s reply is a repetition of my own complaint.
However, it’s totally unhelpful..
The problem is: apple released 12.12 containing the fault and therefore should provide the solution. It’s a faulty program patch.
