Question: Q: Apple music wont play songs (Region Issue?)

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 9.3.4

Posted on Jan 2, 2018 1:47 AM

Fixed. The issue seemed related to the fact the music app couldn’t change stores. So I logged music completely out but instead of logging back in via the settings window I clicked on the music app directly. This prompted me to “try Apple Music”. When I logged in for this screen I got the same message then another message saying “switching stores”. Then it worked.

Thanks for joining us at the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you and your wife share an Apple ID and she’s unable to listen to music because of the error message, «This Apple ID is only valid for use in the. U.S. store.» I’ll be happy to help you out.

You may want to look into Family Sharing as a way to share music and other purchases. That way your wife can use her own Apple ID and have her own iCloud backup separate from yours.

It sounds like the iTunes Store on the iPhone your wife is using thinks it’s in another country. To change the country, follow this article.

Please let me know that these options resolved your issue.

Thanks for the info, but this didn’t work. She is unable to play any music even though she is using the same ID as me. The problem is only occurring on her iPhone, all other devices work fine. This is how it is setup:

sharedAccount is the one complaining about music/region but only on one device.

My region is set to USA (though language is Australian). I don’t believe this is the issue as all my other devices are set to Australia and work without issue.

It is set up this way as it predates family sharing and accounts are in different regions now. So I don’t want to change it.

Apple.

Итак, подводим итог и резюмируем:

Basic question: what country are you in? If you reside in the US, to purchase from the UK store you need a credit card and billing address in the UK.

maybe a bit late, but i had the same issue, and it ended up being my credit card details that were not uptodate. settings/apps/apple id/view id/ payment details.

This worked, thank you! Even though the Country was listed as correct it still needed a log out/log in. go figure.

I have the same problem too, although my app is free and I live in Australia. I suspect that they have only made the updates free in UK so far. Shall try deleting the app and re»purchasing».

Somehow my App Store defaulted to Uk and I’ve found the fix here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5170478?start=0&tstart=0

I’ve tried all the above fixes and still now luck as I still get the message, «Account Not in this Store. Your account is not valid in teh U.S. Store. You must switch to the Canadian store before purchasing.»

I’ve re-entered my credit card information. That didn’t work. I went into the «Featured» pane swiped out and entered again. My account shows Canada but I’m still getting the above message.

Thank you so much, it worked.

Thanks Ralph re entering my country in my Apple ID worked even though my country was correct. Many thanks after lots so attempts at fixing it

I have read everyone post on how to fix this problem where it states that Account Not in This Store. It states I need to go to a Thai store but I have not traveled overseas for the last two years. I live in Australia. I have no idea why this has started to happen on my Ipad or how to fix it.
Any help most appreciated.

Very similar problem. Odd solution.

Logged in to UK store on a variety of devices, & some but not all the UK originated apps seemed to think I was still in the US store. I kept getting the ‘wrong store’ message when trying to update. Went back to all devices 5, 5s, 6s iPad 2 MB Pro and made sure all were set to uk. Tried changing to US and then back to UK. Various reboots. Made sure I wasn’t logged into the cloud in a different ID. Swore a great deal which I did find helpful. Still I was getting same issue.

My solution, albeit defying logic, was to delete the app on each device, then go into App store (still the UK) and find each deleted app again. My intention was a clean reinstall of each offending app. What I found was that back in the bosom of the UK store, each ‘deleted’ app only gave me the option to update not install. Made no sense to me but I hit the update button out of exasperation and lo, it updated and the app popped up all nice and new and shiny on the desktop. No nasty ‘your in the wrong store luv message’ of old. This worked for the 5’s, the 6 and the iPad.

If there’s someone out there that can explain what I was doing wrong and how my ‘solution’ then solved the crisis I am all ears?

I still love Mac though like a true convert!

Something has happened to my account and unfortunately I’m not sure how and when exactly.

A month or so ago I bought Kindle for iphone, around the same time, or shortely after, I did just a normal sync to change the music in my phone.

«this apple id is only valid for purchases in the UK itunes store».

And how do I fix it?

I am able to update the apps once I put them on to the phone via a sync.

But I’m worried I may one day loose purchases, and I’d to be able to download an app I’ve already bought when not next to my PC.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is normal. Changing countries also makes apps that are not licensed to be sold in that country will no longer be allowed to be updated. To update them, you will have to move back to the country they were originally purchased in as well as change your billing to an address in that country.

It would be very close minded and naive of Apple to not understand that people move around the world.

I believe it is some sort of setting I need to change in the itunes store.

Some additional information is that all emails being sent to me from Apple since my reset yesterday, are now in French. The last time I reset my phone was about a year ago in France.

That’s why I am asking, why is this happening now?

May 11, 2012 5:46 AM

The apps may or may not be identical in content. I know many years ago part of the licensing agreement for Mac OS was you would not take your copy outside of the USA. I think back then there was some security software on it that was only licensed for the US. In any case, it isn’t Apple saying it (don’t you think they would prefer to make it as easy as possible for them to take your money?), it’s the license owners.

I had this issue recently also and I contacted iTunes Support. Except I moved from the UK to Australia.

The «This ID is only valid for purchases in the xxxx store» message happens to me occasionally when it loads up the store for my old country (the UK). It sorts itself out when you try a purchase again. Verify your account and payment method are set to the UK. Then read on.

iTunes Store content is country specific and not available to all countries, however there are likely to be many items you purchased or downloaded that are available worldwide. Apps and music etc that are available in both countries can be re-downloaded for free if previously purchased.

To re-download your previous purchases and to ensure that you can keep your Apps up to date you need to re-select them from the iTunes store as if you’re buying them again. iTunes will recognise that you’ve already purchased them and let you download the content for free. It doesn’t forget your purchases, it just doesn’t show those from a different country in your history. To test it out, try downloading one of your cheaper Apps or songs again. It should advise that the update is free as you’ve already purchased it. Once downloaded, they’ll be in your history.

If you don’t update your Apps from the new country’s store, you won’t be able to keep them up to date unless you update the Apps via an iPhone or iPad.

This is a quote from the e-mail I received from iTunes Support:

Graham, I would like to inform you that to update to the latest version of apps in the new country, you will need to «re-purchase» (for free) those apps from the App Store in the new country. You will not be charged when the item downloads. Also, if you re-download the apps from the store, you won’t see outdated notifications anymore.

This also applies to the Mac App Store, assuming that the App is available in both original & new countries. It certainly worked for my copy of OS X Lion!

Interestingly enough, for some bizarre reason, if you have Apps on an iPhone or iPad you can continue to update these without having to re-download them. The device doesn’t care which country the App came from. Weird.
