1. Тейлор Шеридан

Талантливый сценарист и не менее талантливый режиссер известен благодаря замечательным сценарным работам в картинах «Любой ценой» и «Убийца», а также успешной режиссерской — над картиной «Ветренная река». Хотя и для нее он тоже написал сценарий, но он гораздо проще вышеупомянутых.

«Йеллоустоун» насквозь пропитан духом его прошлых работ, особенно местами проскакивают общие с «Ветренной рекой» темы, так как проблемы индейских резерваций фигурируют в обеих картинах. А от «Любой ценой» здесь крепкие семейные узы, когда люди готовы творить любые бесчинства во имя ближайших родственников.

2. Сильные актерские работы

Движущей силой всего сериала можно смело назвать Кевина Костнера. Ему не привыкать играть говнюков. Его обезумевший фанат Элвиса из «3000 Миль до Грейсленда» — отличный пример. И здесь его Джон Даттон тоже не белый и пушистый. Он, конечно, преследует благие цели, стараясь защитить свою собственность, но Джон откровенно нарушает закон. А в некоторых моментах, так и вовсе выглядит как злодей.

Его дети не отстают от него. Все преисполнены харизмы, хотя не всем это и идет на пользу, так как они на максимум воплощают свою архетипы.

Если дочка Бет (Келли Райли) — космических масштабов стерва, готовая задавить любого мужика, словно танк, то она ведет себя так чуть ли не в каждой своей сцене. Унижает вечно совершающего ошибки размазню брата-политикана по имени Джейми (Уэс Бентли), оскорбляет конкурентов и партнеров, фактически не признает никаких авторитетов. Иногда такое поведение оправданно, а иногда чудовищно раздражает.

Во втором сезоне акцент смещается на самого младшего представителя семейства по имени Кейси. Он отщепенец и бывший военный, который предпочел бросить ранчо и жить со своей женой индейских кровей, но в определенный момент он вынужден снова вернуться к отцу.

А противостоят семье харизматичный лидер со стороны индейцев Томас Рейнвотер (Гил Бирмингем), а также бизнесмен из города Дэн Дженкинс, которого сыграл опытный исполнитель злодейских ролей Дэнни Хьюстон («30 дней ночи»). Так что c актерским составом здесь все отлично.

3. Качество сценариев и постановки

Проект явно не из дешевых. Так что красивые виды природы, различные локации и даже постановка некоторых экшен-сцен вполне себе на киношном уровне.

Такой продукт просто приятен глазу, а не очередная дешевка, сделанная на коленке. Даже его не слишком быстрый темп и сосредоточенность на ранчо не сильно бросаются в глаза.

Причины пропустить

А теперь назовем 2 причины, которые могут отпугнуть зрителя от просмотра этого сериала. Не считая очевидной — неинтересной для него ковбойской тематики.

1. Семейная драма

Было предсказуемо, что, несмотря на разборки с угрозой извне, основной темой сериала будут семейные конфликты. И если в первом сезоне сериал штормило, но он хоть как-то пытался удержаться на основном сюжете, который был посвящен посягательству на собственность, то второй сезон совсем вышел из равновесия.

Чуть ли не половина его посвящена жутко токсичным отношениям брата и сестры, разваливающемуся браку младшего сына и месту в иерархии работников ранчо правой руки Джона Даттона, Рипа, который всегда был верен хозяину. Только вот верность эта не получает должного отклика, а скорее наоборот. Из этого вытекает еще одна линия — восстановление отношений отца и младшего сына, которого хочет сделать главным Джон, понизив при это Рипа.

И фоном для всего этого служит новый конфликт с парой братьев, которые в очень грубой форме хотят сотрудничать с Джоном Даттоном, что приводит к кровавым последствиям. И не стоит забыть про обычный быт на ранчо, которому тоже отводят свое время. Таким образом семейная драма превалирует над криминальными элементами сериала.

2. Вопросы без ответов

В первом сезоне очень много таинственности было над деятельностью ранчо. Зрителю продемонстрировали пункт назначения для возжелавших уволиться сотрудников, чем нешуточно заинтриговали. Что это такая за структура, откуда отправляются лишь в один путь?

Но глубоко раскрывать это не стали даже в последующем сезоне, сосредоточившись совершенно на других вещах. И это не единственный вопрос, который остался без ответа.

Присутствие некоторых персонажей в истории тоже не дало никаких результатов. Возможно, они выстрелят дальше, но за два сезона они не сделали толком ничего, что хоть как-то могло продвинуть историю. Некоторые события просто случались (особенно с младшим Даттоном), но толком не имели никаких последствий. И о них быстро забывали.
