Every time I’m trying to enter a game its show me this

How i can solve this?

Are you opening Left 4 Dead 2 using a third party launcher(SweetFX, etc), because if you do, that’s the problem.

A third party launcher is anything that is not officially acknowledged by Valve and/or Turtle Rock to launch this game. If you created an executable or anything that launches L4D2 remotely, that’s a third party launcher.

Check the guide index on the right and find your problem if it is there.
You may note that, not all the «common» issues are listed here such as «Connection failed after 10 retries» (check this guide https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=818399628 ) or «Crashes» because there is not a proper and solid fix for those at the moment.
This will (probably) not fix your issue.
Library > Right click on L4D2 > Properties > Set launch options:
As recommended in the comment sections, if game doesn’t start, you may try to add:
Library > Right click on L4D2 > Properties > Local files (TAB) > Verify integrity of game cache.
If you have manually installed it:
Steam/steamapps/common/Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/addons/
If you have subscribed to the workshop:
Steam/steamapps/common/Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/addons/workshop/
There is two ways to do it.
1) Manually (recommended). Go to some dedicated websites for it, personally, I prefer gamemaps: http://www.gamemaps.com/l4d2/
Then look for an addon, for this example: Green Leather Coat with Driving Gloves, http://www.gamemaps.com/details/17950
Then select the download location from where you want to download it, click on Download again:
Now open the game. On the main menu, click on Add-ons:
then make sure your addon is checked and that’s it!
Benefit of this method is that you can easily remove the addon if it causes an issue or if you dislike it, simply go to the addon folder and remove it.
It’s not harder when using second method, just have to be sure to have unsubscribed from the workshop also.
Not all the addons can be installed in the same way. Some may need specific requirement, don’t forget to read the description of the addon, the author may indicate how to install it.

For that example, M1C Garand is being installed. Click on «Subscribe» button:
After that, a download from Steam should start, if not, close and restart Steam. Wait until it’s finished. Et voila!
Within the game: Options > Keyboard/Mouse > Allow Developer Console > Set to «Enabled». Then close the game.
Now, go to Library > Right click on L4D2 > Properties > Set launch options and add:
Run the game and the console should appear, note that if you click somewhere else it will disappear. In the console, you can bind it by typing:

Replace those values with your screen’s resolutions.

Run L4D2 from the created shorcut.
Go to Steam/ (default location should be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam). Then right click on Steam.exe > Properties > Compatibility (TAB) > Uncheck all boxes then press OK.
Go to Steam/steamapps/common/Left 4 Dead 2/. Then right click on left4dead2.exe > Properties > Compatibility (TAB) > Uncheck all boxes then press OK.
1. Gain ownership of C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOW64\WBEM\FASTPROX.DLL and assign yourself Full control of the file if necessary.
2. Rename FASTPROX.DLL at this location to FASTPROX.DLLOLD

Most of the time, it’s a screen resolution issue.

Save the file (CTRL+S on Windows) and close it. Now right click on it then select Properties and set it to Read-only.

First, make sure you don’t have «sv_cheats» set to 1. If so, close the game, verify integrity of game cache then restart it.
In order to get this achievement, you must help a player who has received this game as a gift during Christmas 2013.

If you have received this game during that event, then uncheck the DLC and help another player who has received it.

4) Re-installation of Left 4 Dead 2. Go to Steam/steamapps/common/ and delete Left 4 Dead 2/ folder then donwload it again.
Before posting on the forum, make sure your problem hasn’t been listed above. And try at least the given proposition to your issue, if not all given propositions.
Also make some minimal researches, use Google or forum search bar. When posting, provide at least OS, GPU, CPU and RAM. And a precise description of your issue (not something like «help it doesn’t work»).

Hello everyone. As I have been wandering around here for long. I saw people came to the discussion to ask for help in Engine Errors but find it hard to get answered. So, I will make it here.
L4D2 Engine Error is the problem that occurs when certain conditions are met. More Importantly, Verify Integrity of Game Cache usually not solve the errors. You may need to do a work around for a few steps

I initially suspected my hardware, but none of my other games do this.
I’m running a i7 CPU, Nvidia titan z card, 4GB ram.

Hello. If I understand right, you had your screen went out(black screen) for a few seconds then the screen starts to appears again, yes?
First try to verify game cache.
If this is the case, it is mostly the game crashes your Nvidia driver, if your driver is up to date, try to lower the version. Or if you have not updated in a long time, try to update it.
Another way is try to unplug the Graphic Card and RAM then do a cleaning on its pins by using eraser softly. After done cleaning, see if the issue still persists.
Try to monitor your GPU temperature while playing l4d2. After black screen happened, immediately look at GPU temperature if it is around 70-80 or more, try to give a new silicon.
I would suggest you to create a thread instead of asking in here. As I rarely to online in steam I can not answer in a moment. I am afraid it may not worth your time you have wasted in waiting me to answer that may not solve your problem.

Перезапустите Steam и переустановите игру.
Когда инсталляция завершится, проверьте, разрешилась ли ваша проблема.

У меня до сих пор существует эта проблема, бывает сразу вылетает, бывает даже во время игры вылетает, раньше такого не было. Всё выше перечисленное не помогает. Вот теперь ломаю голову.

Совершенно случайно или даже не заходя в игру(теперь постоянно). Сколько лет играю, первый раз такое, может обновление поменяло что то? Передача интернета (реальная) 50 мб и отдача 40 мб.

Благодарю за ответ! Вы были правы, у меня ранее вылезала ошибка, что Служба безопасности стим не может установить обновление или проверять читы в играх, и типа надо согласиться на установку. Сейчас всё таки согласилась и всё отлично, хотя опять же странно, раньше и так всё было ок, а теперь им потребовалось моё согласие на установку, не совсем понятно чего именно. Ещё раз спасибо.
